Week 9 Fantasy Rankings

Fantasy Position Rankings - Quarterbacks

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - It's been very easy for fantasy owners with Peyton Manning on their roster ... until now. Manning will be watching games from his sofa just like the rest of us in Week 9.

Well, actually he'll probably be studying game film for their Week 10 opponent San Diego, because he's that obsessed with winning.

For his fantasy owners it's a week without their security blanket - a quarterback who is averaging an NFL-high 28 fantasy points a game. Manning isn't the only starting fantasy quarterback on the sidelines this weekend. Matthew Stafford, Colin Kaepernick, Eli Manning, Carson Palmer and Chad Henne are also on a bye, making this a very tough weekend for lineup construction.

We like Dallas quarterback Tony Romo to take over the top spot from Manning. He'll be facing a Minnesota Vikings squad that is yielding an average of 287 passing yards and 2.2 touchdowns per game. Plus, Romo is going to feed uber- talented Dez Bryant the ball early and often after the wideout's outburst last Sunday.

Of course, we also love the way Drew Brees and Andy Dalton are playing. Brees has thrown for at least 300 yards in 10 of his last 12 regular season games, while Dalton has passed for 300-plus yards and at least three touchdowns in three consecutive games to jump to sixth-best among QBs in 2013.

For those struggling to find a quarterback to fill out their Week 9 lineup, we think Alex Smith facing Buffalo and Case Keenum in his second career start can post useful numbers.

Smith has produced 14 or more fantasy points in five of eight games this season despite an earlier three-week touchdown-pass drought. He'll face the Bills defense giving up more than 30 points a game.

Meanwhile, Keenum was solid against a very tough Kansas City Chiefs defense in his first career start and has gotten plenty of reps with the starters as the Texans were on bye last weekend. Don't be afraid to play him against a Colts defense that yielded 365 yards through the air last week.
