TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Jon Lester has been named head men's golf coach and assistant men's basketball coach at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, effective immediately.

Lester joins the Rose-Hulman athletic staff to fill an opening caused by the recent promotion of Rusty Loyd to head men's basketball coach.

His efforts included recruiting, coordination of practice and travel schedules, fundraising, budget management, film exchange, and monitoring academic progress. Lester also served as assistant coordinator for the Big Blue Golf Outing which featured 120 players annually.

On the golf side, he has served as assistant instructor at Decatur Golf Academy in Illinois.  His efforts have included skill development, fundamentals, life skills and nutrition for youth players.

Prior to his time in Illinois, Lester served as assistant basketball coach for one year at NCAA Division III Eastern University in Pennsylvania.  The squad opened the season with its best start in school history (9-1).

Lester has also volunteered to work several summer basketball camps at NCAA Division I programs, including Duke, Villanova, Clemson and George Mason.
