RHIT Rifle - #22 Nationally, #1 in D-III

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology relied on a school record performance in the NCAA Division III National Qualifier to finish the 2014 rifle season in the national top 25, according to rankings released Friday.

The Fightin' Engineers ended up No. 22 nationally and No. 1 among all NCAA Division III rifle programs with their effort at Ohio State on Saturday. Rose-Hulman (8982 rankings points) topped MIT (8852) and Coast Guard Academy (8843) for the top mark in Division III.

The effort at the NCAA Qualifier included a new school record tally of 4,515, including a school record mark of 2,282 air rifle points. The smallbore score just missed the existing school record by four points.

Junior Suzanne Eisenberger (Clarence Center, N.Y./Northeastern University) led the Fightin' Engineers with a season-high score of 1,140, including a team-high 580 in air rifle. She also tied the school record in air rifle with the performance.

Senior Evan Duvall (Smyrna, Tenn./Smyrna) came home second overall with a tally of 1,139. Duvall led the squad with a 567 smallbore score.

Senior Adam Foss (Fort Wayne, Ind./Concordia Lutheran) was third among Engineers with a total of 1,122, and junior Allie Carlson (Goose Creek, S.C./Patch American) rounded out those contributing to the overall team score with a mark of 1,114.
