Rose-Hulman Football Training Camp Underway
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Training camp is underway for the 98-player Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology football team in preparation for the upcoming 2014 season.
The 98 players come to Rose-Hulman from 25 states and hope to continue the recent tradition of success for Fightin' Engineer football. The team won its first conference championship in 25 years last fall and has compiled a school record nine consecutive winning seasons entering the Sept. 6 opener at Kalamazoo.
Rose-Hulman finished 7-3 overall and 7-1 in HCAC play with seven wins in its final eight contests last season. The Fightin' Engineers also scored 30 or more points in each of their last six victories.
The squad returns 38 varsity letter winners and 12 starters from the 2013 campaign, including three all-conference returnees. Rose-Hulman was picked to finish fourth in the HCAC this season in the preseason coaches poll released earlier this month.
The home schedule begins with the "Rose-Hulman Night" matchup against Illinois College on Sept. 13 at 7 pm. Other highlights of the home schedule include the Homecoming game against Anderson on Oct. 4 and the Battle of the Borders Broadsword matchup with Earlham College on Nov. 15.
