Sixth Annual Youth Soccer Camp Set for July 7-11
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's and women's soccer teams will once again play host to the sixth annual Youth Soccer Camp, set for July 7-11.
The skills camp, which will be set at historic Jim Rendel Field, is open to boys and girls entering grades 3-8 this upcoming fall.
The half-day camp will begin at 9 a.m. each day and finish at 11:30 a.m., with warm-up games, skills practice, and small-sided games included in the daily schedule.
Cost is $100 per camper and checks can be made payable to Rose Soccer.
Rose-Hulman's head soccer coaches -- men's seventh-year coach Sean Helliwell and women's sixth-year coach Amy Helliwell will serve as the camp's instructors, along with current Rose-Hulman soccer players.
The Fightin' Engineers have enjoyed plenty of recent success under the direction of both Helliwell's, capped by the men's 2013 NCAA Division III Sweet Sixteen appearance and upset victory over the then No.1-ranked team in the country, Ohio Wesleyan.
The Rose-Hulman men have captured Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championships in 2008, 2009, 2012 and 2013 and Sean Helliwell has been selected as the HCAC Coach of the Year four times in his six-season tenure.
The women's squad qualified for its fifth conference tournament in program history in 2013, led by HCAC Defensive Player of the Year, sophomore Lucinda Combs. The 2007 and 2009 teams each captured conference championships.
